Club Connection is a progran for running a Singles Dating Service
Club by computer, although you may rename it anything you wish for
advertising purposes. Since it is the authors opinion that no one can
understand what God really had in mind when he invented the chemistry
that attracts people together, this program is designed to dwell on
the practical sides of compatability by determining and matching on
areas of common interest. It has been in actual operation in the city
of New Orleans for several years now, and running sucessfully.
There are various paper forms that help with the signing up of new
members and contain the translation codes that are used by the program
to index various personality traits. Although these forms are not
absoultely essential to the operation of the program they certainly
will eliminate a large amount of second guessing. All forms necessary
for smooth operation with the program are supplied with REGISTRATION
along with a more detailed documentation on getting the best results.
Dbase 3 source code is also furnished for those with the ability to
to understand and implement changes for their personal use.
This program can be operated for the benefit of a private or public
organization. As a public organization, fee's may be charged for the
various services rendered. Although the accounting aspects of this
program are limited, there are provisions for recording fee's or
payments. Here is a suggested schedule:
Regular Member (one who can be matched as well as
run searches)
New Application....................................$50.00
Associate Member (one who can be matched only)
New Application....................................$25.00
Search Fee's......... Regular Member............... $5.00
Search Fee's......... Non Member ..................$15.00
Members File Updated............................... $5.00
Associate Member Update............................$10.00
Advertising for this kind of Club is best done through the classifieds
of your local paper. I suggest running a daily add for a month at the
time. You can expect a minimum of 100 members the first 30 days. This
could result in a cash flow of $5000 + your first month. To build your
your database you might even offer reduced or even free membership to
the first 50 members. You can expect a ratio of 60% men to 40% women
joining the Club. The median age for men will be 41 and 39 for women.
This is based on the actual results of several years of operation.

Here are three reproductions of the more important program menu's.
as they would be seen in actual operation. The last two have their
counterparts in paper form to facilitate members using the U.S. Mail
to conduct business. The paper forms are readily self explanitory,
the program menus are not; as much of the information is indexed or
keyed by information from the two paper forms. REGISTRATION provides
all the necessary paperwork.

How the program works:
A members social security number is the key index for practically
all operations. Like finger prints, this is the most effective
method for keeping tract of members and searches.
The program divides the record database into two main areas. One
is refered to as Physical Data, the other is called Descriptors.
Physical data relates to your age, weight, hair color etc. etc.
whereas Descriptors are various adjectives used to describe your
disposition, activities, desires etc.
A search is based on the premis that an individual will have definite
qualification for the person they wish to meet such as age, weight
non smoker, etc. So here a filter condition is set up such that
only those records meeting the range of qualifications will fall
through for furthur processing. Then these records are compaired
with the data on the searchers own record for matches in similar
activities, traits, desires etc. Each match results in a point
score being generated, the highest score resulting in a suggested
match.
Several factors can be weighted and ranged. For instance, few people
would really only settle for a person of an exact age or height. So
ranges are allowed but not required.
A custom personal letter is then generated for the person requesting
the match with a summary or Resume of the matched persons qualificat-
ions including information on how they may be contacted. It is
suggested that contacts be made via the telephone, however the
program allows for some security as mailling address can be used
in liew of phone numbers. Most people who perfer this use P.O. Boxes;
but the majority will want phone numbers.
